Stacking multiple factors for the highest probability entries — the art of confluence.

Confluence & Trade Entries

The best traders don't rely on a single signal. They stack the odds by combining multiple factors at one level.

What Is Confluence?

Confluence means two or more independent reasons to take a trade all align at the same price zone. Each factor alone might be a 50/50 shot — but stacked together, the probability skews heavily in your favor.

The Confluence Checklist

Rate your setup by counting how many factors align:

Structure & Trend

  • [ ] HTF trend alignment (trading with the trend)
  • [ ] Key structural level (previous HH, HL, LH, LL)
  • [ ] BOS or CHoCH confirmation on LTF

Zones & Levels

  • [ ] Fresh supply or demand zone
  • [ ] Order block (unmitigated)
  • [ ] Fair Value Gap
  • [ ] Support / Resistance flip

Fibonacci

  • [ ] 50-61.8% retracement (Golden Pocket)
  • [ ] Extension target alignment

Price Action

  • [ ] Engulfing candle at zone
  • [ ] Pin bar / rejection wick
  • [ ] Liquidity sweep before entry

Additional

  • [ ] Volume confirmation
  • [ ] EMA/VWAP confluence
  • [ ] Session timing (London/NY open)

Scoring Your Setup

| Confluences | Grade | Action | |-------------|-------|--------| | 1-2 | C | Skip — not enough | | 3-4 | B | Acceptable — smaller position | | 5-6 | A | Strong — standard position | | 7+ | A+ | Premium — full conviction |

Rule of thumb: Never take a trade with fewer than 3 confluence factors.

Example A+ Setup

Candlestick Patterns

Click on a pattern to learn what it signals

✓ Daily uptrend (HH/HL)
✓ Fresh 4H demand zone at $2,180
✓ Bullish order block overlapping the zone
✓ Fair value gap within the zone
✓ 61.8% Fibonacci retracement
✓ 15m CHoCH into bullish structure
✓ Bullish engulfing at zone entry
✓ London session open timing

Result: 8 confluences = A+ setup
Entry: $2,182 | Stop: $2,158 | Target: $2,260

Entry Methods

Once you have confluence, choose your entry style:

Aggressive Entry

  • Enter as soon as price taps the zone
  • Tighter stop, better R:R
  • Risk: Zone may not hold (no LTF confirmation)

Confirmation Entry

  • Wait for LTF structure shift (CHoCH/BOS)
  • Slightly worse R:R, but higher win rate
  • Recommended for most traders

Reduced Risk Entry

  • Enter on a retest of the LTF break
  • Best of both worlds: confirmed + discounted entry
  • Risk: Price may not give a retest

The Decision Tree

1. Is HTF trend in my favor?
   NO → Don't trade
   YES → Continue

2. Is price at a quality zone?
NO → Wait for price to arrive
   YES → Continue

3. Do I have 3+ confluence factors?
   NO → Don't trade
   YES → Continue

4. Does LTF show a structure shift?
NO → Wait or use limit order
   YES → Enter the trade

Key Takeaway

Confluence is how you shift from gambling to trading with an edge. Stack the factors, follow the checklist, and only pull the trigger when the picture is clear.
